Bottle Biome Entry

There has been significant plant growth since the beginning of the project. The fish is still doing well, and seemingly has mellowed out since being initially put into its environment. No other significant changes since last entry.

Reflection on Dragonfly Pond

After all of these diagrams were put together, I realized that pollution is ultimately inevitable to an extent, considering even if you are able to avoid polluting your own community, it may have affect communities further downstream. Knowing this, I would rearrange any source of pollution far from a water source or further downstream to minimize impact of pollution. In my own daily routine, I can make sure all of my waste is properly disposed of to reduce impact as much as possible.

There is evident plant growth since the beginning of the project. The fish is surprisingly calm despite being put into a small bottle, and actively moves (at least when the bottle is picked up). Water quality is still consistent with what it was a week ago.

Entry 2 – Adding Fish

We are going to add fish later next week, and we have been discussing what fish would fit well in our tank. We have to take into consideration the fact that we have a relatively small tank, so we need to get fish that fit in a community aquarium and have no aggressive tendencies. The rule is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water, so that will also limit the amount of fish we can get.

Entry 1 – Water Testing Lab

Today we completed a lab testing various qualities of water, and personally it was very interesting for me to be able to learn details about something that seems to 2 dimensional. I did not know that there was so much to analyze in water!
